Bea Palya, singer

MúzeumCafé 7.

“I’m not a great museum-goer,” Bea Palya immediately asserts on learning I want to speak with her for Museumcafe. She is about to go on holiday by the sea and says she is going through a period when she is interested in ‘nature’ and does not want any cultural experience. Hence it is no surprise that when I ask about her favourite museum she first mentions the Oceanographic Museum in Paris. Then she adds that the Bajor Gizi Actors’ Museum is still her favourite exhibition space. “I went there last year for the first time. We were giving a concert and I immediately fell in love with those strange spaces and the fascinating garden by the building.” And, of course, with the love letters scattered on the desks and the lives they convey. Yet antiques do not get her very excited. She says she can be lost in the decorations of a well-crafted piece of furniture or even the interesting and minute details of a historic display, but she would rather visit art exhibitions.
