Pásztó Museum establishes new education room and open visual storeroom

MúzeumCafé 28.

In November 2011 the Museum of Pásztó opened a storeroom that can be visited and a study room for museum education. The infrastructural development has reinforced the successful educational role of the museum – in 2009 it was awarded the prize of National Excellence in Museum Education in the category of Best Initiative in Museum Education. By winning a significant tender the museum was among the first to develop educational projects. As a result, services increased and so did the demand for sessions to be accommodated in a permanent, well-equipped room for education. The investment acquired in spring 2010 enabled the museum to construct such a room and an open visual storeroom. These and the related virtual services represent a step forward whereby we can make the museum and its education projects and sessions more colourful, attractive and spectacular. Visitors can view the parts of local history, natural sciences and art collections which are not displayed in the exhibitions. The primary aim of the investment was for the museum to more actively and effectively connect with the education and lifelong learning process in the town. Working with local teachers, thematic, special and workshop sessions, and days for children in the museum during holiday periods are offered. These are guaranteed to continue in the future as a result of contracts concluded with local educational institutions. The existence of after-school education, which provides unique opportunities for both children and teachers, is of outstanding importance for Pásztó and its vicinity. The education room and open storeroom in the museum are very popular and are something entirely new for schools and nurseries in the town and the locality.
