Mihály Csiby, insect illustrator is 85. In conjunction with the staff of the Natural History Museum’s Zoological Department, Mihály Csiby worked for four decades on the collection of the museum, as well as with creatures and themes found in nature. His name as a scientific insect illustrator ranks among the greatest of the genre. Before the age of macro lenses and digital zoom, using a borrowed microscope he depicted the full-figure images (so-called habitus) as well as the details of spiders, beetles, butterflies, flies and true bugs, observing their tiniest parts. His illustrations attracted the attention of natural history museums in central Europe, including several institutes in the Czech Republic, in Basel and Berlin.
