Cella Septichora

MúzeumCafé 2.

Since 31 March 2007 the exhibition venue displaying eight burial vaults has been open to the general public. At last a part of the World Heritage in Pécs has a fitting, accessible and protected location. So far 45,000 visitors have been pleased to see it, not to mention the pride of local residents. The establishment of the venue had a long prehistory and several problems arose during construction of the Cella Septichora complex. In the end, however, everyone and everything has done well. Visitors can see more of the burial vaults, the antique frescos have acquired a more protected position, and the high quality venue, which is managed by Pécs/Sopianae Co., generates publicity for the town of Pécs.
