Ecclesiastical collections

MúzeumCafé 1.

A short summary of the legal position concerning artefacts of a museal character in the possession of the churches and not the state. The majority of Hungarian churches have established their own central or regional collections. There are also ensembles of items brought together from a local historical aspect, due to the special character of religious practice or as a minority’s ecclesiastical collection. In future, besides the large ecclesiastical collections, the artefacts held by dioceses and smaller units will also be reviewed.
