The soul of machines
MúzeumCafé 4.
To live among machines may seem heartless – but only to those who do not know that machines have souls. István Csippán, collection curator of the National Technical Museum, is fully aware of that. The National Technical Museum is near the Buda end of Lágymányos Bridge. It is not easy to find, but it’s worth it. István Csippán has been managing the collection for 20 years. Now nearing retirement, he was born in 1949 and has been attracted to the world of museums and especially to technical objects since childhood. His family lived near the City Park so his father often took him to the museums of transport and agriculture. Csippán had an elementary curiosity for technical objects. He loved taking things to pieces. As he puts it, he never had an intact toy, since he was interested in what was inside and how they worked.
